As a Jewish person residing in one of the most Democratic states in America, it's difficult to convince people that Zionists aren't racist white settlers and Israel has a right to exist. In fact, It's a big no-no to hint that you do support Israel. People will yell profanities at you and tune you out all together.
Why is this? To be honest, I don't know. People in California (and many other locations) tend to side with Palestine, but for no real reason. They truly have such strong feelings about the I/P conflict, even though it doesn't affect them at all (and they are generally very ignorant about the conflict).
If you feel that, while reading this, you are starting to realize that you might be one of these people, you need to change. If you are't Jewish, Israeli, or Palestinian, then you don't have a right to an opinion about the conflict.
